Is is possible that I can upgrade from dotnetnuke 4.9.5 to dotnetnuke 6.0? Do you have any video guide for this?

Hi Muneeb, just the other day I have upgraded a DNN 4.8 to DNN 5.6.3 (the last DNN in the 5. versions) - Then after that I have upgraded to DNN 6.0.1 - No problems.

Here is a great blog post from Will Strohl about upgrading:

and here is an upgrade video:

Re: How to upgrade from DotNetNuke 5 to DotNetNuke 6 - Video #249

I have a dnn portal running on a shared server v6.0.1. I have downloaded the files into my local machine and kept the connection string to the online database. I want to run the upgrade package locally in my machine to update the database and then upload the upgraded version from my machine into my hosting server. Can I upgrade it to v6.0.2 this way?

Hi Alaa, I don't see any reasons why you shouldn't be able to do it. As long as you already have the site running local with a remote db, is that is working , then the upgrade should work as well.

Oi Aderson, I recently started to maintain a website on DNN platform, would I be able to use Dreamweaver to connect via FTP in order to upgrade their version to version 6.1.2? Also, do you recommend a specific way to back up the files?

Hi Diego,

You could backup by using this module:
store.dotnetnuke.com/home/product-details/dnnbackup-610---backup--restore-and-clone-dotnetnuke?r=73311e2a326b411fbbb4

I have some videos about it:

Re: How to upgrade from DotNetNuke 5 to DotNetNuke 6 - Video #249

Hi Aderson,

I just upgrade my DNN website from ver 5.04.04 to 6.02.00 after that I got the error and I went throghu the Event log table and here is my error:

(I have to mention that I havn't created that website)

"Invalid column name 'tabpath'"

I found out that in the ascx file It's calling this table (Tabs) and is trying to get these fields information "Tabpath, Level"

Which are no longer exict in the new version.

So I'm wondering Is there any other place that those fields are stored?

any idea? what should I do? Should I remove accessing those fields from entire website? any better idea?

Thank you so much,

Bahareh

Hi Bahareh,

I have found this: www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Forums/forumid/200/postid/458682/scope/posts.aspx

Hopefully it will help.
