While examining the files in my project I came across the directory /App_Data/ClientDependency.  This directory has a bunch of files in it.  These files have the .cdC, .cdJ, and .xml file extensions.

The.xml files have file names that begin with the Machine Name of my local workstations.

What are these files?

Are they unique to each machine and should I exclude all or some from my SVN project?

Hi Andy,

I can't tel l you what those files are because I'm not sure, but I can tell you that I have deleted the xml file and the site was still functioning.

BTW, I have checked on about 5 site and I only had the XML file, not the other extensions you had mentioned.

Cheers,

Aderso

Andy,

I am not about these, but I certainly don't think they need to be included in your source control.

From what I read, they are temporary files created by .net (assumably the worker process).  They can be deleted.

Thanks for checking this out.  I came across this while trying to configure subversion to only contain what I need.  I have excluded the Cache, Logs, and now the ClientDependency files.  Off the top, is there anything else that I would want to exclude?  Is there any type of a published list of this type of info?

No list that I'm aware of Andy, but you may want to think about user uploaded content like document and images and what you want to do with those.
