For development purposes I have twi sites set up, one runs on my local machine and one runs on a development server.

Each machine currently runs it's own instance of SQL Express.  I would like to connect my local site to the database on the development server so I can go down to a single instance of the database for development.  Are there any issues doing this with DNN?

The sites will have the same content and structure as they are checked in and out of SVN to move between machines.  They may not exist in the same directory if mapped from the root of the disk drive on each machine (local machine may be at c:\localdev\mysite where the dev server may be at c:\inetpub\mysite)  My worries are that DNN might put some machine specific information in the database.  Does it or am I safe to link the two sites to the same database?

Hi Andy,

The connection between DNN site and its database is all about the connection string in the web.config. If you have that correct and if these two computers can see each other from a permission basis, then it is all good.

Cheers,

Aderson
