Hi Steve,

I have check the site now and the message now seems to be related to permissions. You need to keep in mind that the IIS users need to have full access to the site files. Not sure if your hosting control panel allow for that. If not you have to ask that for your hosting to give full access to the IIS user.

Which hosting company are you using?

The database connection error definitely could be caused if the connection string information is incorrect.  Unfortunately, the database connection strings are part of "Customer Content" which isn't supported by MyHostControl.  We will keep looking to see if we can find the source of the issue under a "Best Effort" basis.  Regarding the database engine (which is on the same server as the website), it is definitely running or we would have issues with other websites on the same server.

Correct, we were actively working on the server. We checked and we believe we have found the database connection issue and believe we have that resolve. After that, it appears that the DotNetNuke upgrade never actually ran, because after correcting the database connectivity issue, the site started attempting to run through the DotNetNuke upgrade.

The site was getting Access Denied when trying to access some specific files. We have granted the needed permissions and the DotNetNuke upgrade seemed to finish. The site is now loading again, so you will need to review the site and make sure everything is working as expected.
