Hi guys,

How do we achieve the following when creating pages -
when a user chooses a ‘Page Template’, the template assigns:
a designated ‘Skin’ (not the default skin), designated ‘Modules’ (including configuration settings) and ‘Permissions’.

I’d like to avoid the user having to manually assign a Skin to the Template.
(DNN 8, DNN9)

Many thanks

Hi Da,

Unfortunately that is not possible with DNN out of the box.

:(

Thank you very much Aderson for your prompt reply.
Is there a way to get around this DNN limitation?
Third party module, or editing source etc etc?

Dave

Hi Dave,

When it comes down to coding, anything is possible. The question is cost and time. Is it worth the effort? I wouldn't advise to change core code however someone could create a module to handle that. I don't know of anything available.

Sorry, I really like to provide options but I don't see that many here as it is a very specific task you want to get done.

Thanks again for your reply Aderson.

It’s not really a ‘specific task’ but a simple and easy method to manage content for non technical users (Content Managers); something that a lot of other CMS’s are able to achieve but DNN cannot.

I guess DNN is limited unlike other CMS’s where the user can just:
1. create a new page,
2. select a pre-defined template, and then start inputting content.

With DNN it seems users need to:
1. create a new page,
2. select template,
3. select skin,
4. add modules,
5. and/or module settings, and then start inputting content.
It’s a cumbersome and impractical process for users; especially non-technical content managers.
