Great content! Question regarding the dnn manifest file. This pertains to Module Development part 1/6 - Views, Settings and Navigation. When adding user controls to a module, is it common practice to manually edit the manifest file?

Thanks!

Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm not the best one to answer that as Scott has a lot more experience than me, but manual editing is what I do whenever I have a new control.

I will drop a note to Scott so he can give his 2 cents as well.

Cheers,

Aderson

Mike,

Good question.  Once you get more advanced, it is easier to edit the manifest xml directly.

The other option is to manually create the extension definition by editing the extension from the Host > Extensions page.  I show you a little of this UI in the videos.  But there is also an option in the editor to export the manifest which will create the file for you to put in your package.

Either way is valid, I just find it easier to not go through the UI to make changes to the manifest.
