I need to create a multi lingual chinese/english website in DNN6.2

We will be providing the English content, the majority of which will be take from the clients existing DNN6.0 UK site.

We have a contact in China that is prepared to do the translation and with a little training could do this directly on the site.

What would you recommend as best way to set this site up?

Is it worth to make of copy of UK site and strip out the unwanted content first? Then add language packs and localise?

Setup the multilingual site with language packs and Localised pages first then copy content into the Apollo mlhtml module? Thus it becomes easy for chinese person to update each module?

Does the apollo modules work in chinese?

Regards

John

Hi John,

Good to see you around.

My recommendation is to use the default new localization of DNN - This way you will not need to use Apollo as the default HTML module will handle multiple languages by itself.

As you already have English content, just activate the multilingual feature. Check this video for details on how to do that: how to enable Content Localization in DotNetNuke

 Cheers,

Aderson

Hi Aderson

Thanks for help.  Great video. I will try the content localisation route and see how we go.

I plan to use a clean dnn6.2 install and import content rather than copy site.

Hi John,

Whenever possible, a fresh start is usually better than an upgraded site. Good luck and keep us posted.

 Cheers,

I said I would keep you guys up to date on progress developing and English/chinese site.

The site was created in English and content was completed this week. We are using dnnarticle for managing news and testimonial.

Following Adersons video, the content localisation worked brilliantly. However configuring Dnnarticle to work in both localised languages has proved a nightmare. The localisation has duplicated the modules on the Chinese side and the intances of the article manager are no longer linked together.

If anyone has an article module recommendation that allows content to be authored in one location with multiple language versions and allows automatic publication to the localised languages, I would be pleased to receive it.

FYI the website is www.martincollins.cn
