Hello,

Is there any way to make a page appear in the menu just for administrators?

I have some pages which I want to be viewable by all users but which shouldn't appear in the menu. For example, a 'thankyou' page only viewed when someone signs up for a mailing list. However, I would like the page to be included in the menu for administrators. Is it possible to do that?

I currently have the pages viewable by all but excluded from the menu but that does make them difficult to navigate to.

Best Regards,

Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm quite sure it is not possible out of the box with the DDR menu. The fact that you can toggle a page to show or hide from the menu is completely disconnected from the permission to view the page.

However that might be possible with some modifications to the menu template used by your site, but I wouldn't be able to pinpoint exactly what you would have to do.

Sorry :(

Hi Aderson,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I was coming to that conclusion too and if you don't know how to do it then I'm willing to bet it's not possible :-) Just wanted to check I'm not missing something before I make some changes to the menu.

I have a Razor menu rather than DDR, it must be possible to modify it to do that. I'll have to think of a way to indicate which pages should be included in the menu when logged in though. It's a pity DNN doesn't have custom fields, at least I assume it doesn't. A configuration file or database table would probably be the simplest way to do it.

I'm also surprised no one else has apparently needed to do this before though.

Best Regards.

Steve

Hi Steve,

I might be talking non-sense here, but I think you could use the "TabSettings" table and create your own custom setting there to indicate whether you want to page in the menu only for Admins or for everybody.

Cheers,

Aderson

Hi Aderson,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, that certainly looks possible but it would be nicer if DNN allowed us to create custom fields which could be used when creating the page. But as far as I know DNN doesn't provide anything like that. I don't want to modify DNN itself.

I may decide it's just not worth it and create a page with some links to hidden pages.

All the best,

Steve
