Hi Aderson,

Thank you for your weekly tip on SSl certificates. I'm about to go through the procedures for implementing a SSL Certificate on my Amazon EC2 environment and wondering if you have any information on the required procedures? I managed to activate an SSL on a website hosted site but I know need to test on my own hosting.

Do I need to purchase a SSL from the domain hosting provider or can I get one from anywhere? if so, do you a have any preferred suppliers?

Are you aware of any free SSL certificates so I can test on my own website first?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Kinds Regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

I'm not an expert but I know enough to do some damage :):

1 - You can get the SSL from someplace else other then your hosting provider. I usually buy Comodo / Positive SSL from: https://www.namecheap.com/security/ss... (cheap but does the job)

2 - Then I follow these instructions - https://www.digicert.com/csr-ssl-inst... (it usually works like a charm)

Cheers,

Aderson

Thank you Aderson,

On my SSL journey I discovered the following link for setting up Lets Encrypt SSL certs for free.

https://justinacton.com/2016/08/12/free-ssl-cert-for-dnn-using-lets-encrypt/

I've managed to get this to work on DNN 9

Thanks again, I will use your suggestions as well
