Hi Aderson
I had a vanilla site on DNN7.0.4, which I upgraded using Papyus directly to DNN7.1.0 as suggested by Papyus. It appeared to upgrade without issue.

I created a new page, and tried to change user permissions, but it did not allow me to tick any boxes and therefore change permissions.

I changed the Admin> site settings permission to Public (as it had changed it on upgrade to Private), cleared the cache and restarted the application, but it made no difference.

As an aside, I notice also that the friendly URLs are not showing by default, though I understand that they should, and this part of the webconfig is not as in the DNN7.1 Overview video on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_nJWEa0JkY (They show as humanfriendly, not advanced)

Is it the upgrade process that has gone awry, or DNN7.1 that is not working as it should? Your suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks

Jane / John

Hi Jane/John,

I have a rule of thumb when it comes to upgrading DNN production sites:

If the new stable version had a "beta" prior to it, it is because they have introduced a lot of new "stuff" and they needed a "beta" version to stabilize it. If so, I would usually skip the new stable version - As we see here, 7.1.0 had a beta version before the stable version, so I would skip 7.1.0 stable and wait to get 7.1.1. This would ensure that most wonky things have been reported and worked out.

With that said, what you have reported might be a problem on 7.1 or it might be that something went wrong with the upgrade. I have never used Papayas module to upgrade a site. I'm a bit biased about having a module doing my DNN site upgrade automatically. I don't fully like the idea, but it might be because I'm a control freak :)

I would suggest that you check the site's event log to see if you can find errors that might give you a clue about what is going on.

As an alternative, you could restore a backup and do a manual upgrade as well.

Best regards,

Aderson

Same thing here but there are two nice workarounds, one I came across, one I found on DNN forum :

1 - for me, the permissions do still work under page management so you just can handle everything from there.

2 - if it's possible for your site, you just have to update the jQuery versions (under Host Settings) to the ones suggested for DNN 7.1 (1.9.1 / 1.10.3)

I usually use hosted versions as suggested by Aderson and you just have to change the numbers there.

Everything works fine for me after that, regarding to the page permissions.
