Hi Aderson,

I have another 'strange' issue when changing the url of a page on a live site. I am trying to rename the page url from:

[thesite.com]/Blog/The-Hike/Week-7
to:
[thesite.com]/blog/thehike/week7

The message I get is:
"The submitted Page URL is not available. If you wish to accept the suggested alternative, please click Update."

I also get the same message when changing a page from:
[thesite.com]/Blog/The-Hike/Week-7/day-43
to:
[thesite.com]/blog/thehike/week7/day43

I assume this means it thinks the url is already assigned to another page, but I'm creating the urls in strict sequence, I haven't created a 'week 7' before.

This wouldn't normally be a big problem, but I'm using the url to determine the urls for page next and previous buttons on each page.

I don't have access to the database on the hosts server, I'm asking them for a backup so that I can check the TabUrls table.

I can't imagine that there are any entries causing this issue in this table, as I mentioned I'm renaming the urls in a strict sequence.
Is there anything else I can check?

Best Regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

I have tried to reproduce the problem on a DNN8 and DNN9 site and I was able to rename the page URL successfully.

Here is what I have created:

Blog
>The Hike
>>Week 7
>>>day 43
>>>day 44
>>>day 45

So first they were created with dashes, then I just renamed by removing the dashes from the URL.

It worked.

Not sure what might be happening on your site Steve.

One thing to note that I realized by testing: Once I had originally created the page structure above, I could access the "day" pages with dashes in the URL AND without. The "without version" would do a redirect to the "with" version.

Sorry that I wasn't able to reproduce it.

Hi Aderson,

Thank you for taking a look at this.

Yes, it's not been an issue until now. I've been renaming the pages without issue, except that a 2nd edit results in a 'too many redirects' redirects error which we discussed in previous thread.

The hosting company has provided the database now, so i will download it and look at the tabsurl table.

Best Regards,

Steve

Hi Aderson,

Well guess what I found in the TabsUrl table :-)

The following records created on 5th May 2017, with the url fields set as below:

/Blog/TheHike/Week7
/Blog/TheHike/Week7/Day43
/Blog/TheHike/Week7/Day44
/Blog/TheHike/Week7/Day45
/Blog/TheHike/Week7/Day46
/Blog/TheHike/Week7/Day47
/Blog/TheHike/Week7/Day48
/Blog/TheHike/Week7/Day49

So clearly I must have created these pages, perhaps for testing.

Can I safely delete the above records and then create a set of pages with the above URLs?

Best Regards,

Best Regards,

Steve

A-ha!

I would try with one page at first and see how it goes Steve.

Keep us posted! :)

Cheers,

Aderson
