So I have SMTP setup and registration set to public. I get an email notification when users register and a daily report of all the users that registered that day. However I noticed this morning that someone registered with what's clearly an incorrect email address and I think because of that I don't get any notification at all. I can see that I get a new user in the event log but I need my admins to be notified if anyone registers so they can setup their user groups. Why would I not get an email at all if their email is bad? I know the user will never receive anything but shouldn't I still? It can sometimes take 5-10 minutes to get the notification but it's been almost 3 hours and nothing.
Thanks.

Hi Michael,

Your assumption is that the email was not sent out because the email was wrong (I guess you mean badly formed?) - So first I would try to determine if this is really the case. Try doing some tests with correct and incorrect emails. See how they behave and nail the cause.

You you nailed the scenario, then we can try determining the cause.

On top of my head I wouldn't have an answer for you on why this is happening if it is really the case.

Best regards,

Aderson

I think I've tracked down the issue. Since the site admin was my host account which was attached to my email I WAS receiving notification emails from new user registrations. However as that wasn't the desired sender and I changed it a formal address all of a sudden I no longer received emails anymore (except if I used the 'test SMTP settings' button in site settings). It appears superadmin account are not on the list to get these notifications. This is actually prefered functionality but I was concerned at the sudden disappearance of those emails. I've confirmed with my admins that they still receive them.

Thanks.
