Hi Aderson,

I just watched the following excellent video:
http://www.dnnhero.com/Videos/tabid/59/EntryId/135/How-to-allow-a-non-administrator-user-to-add-modules-to-a-page-in-DotNetNuke-Video-126.aspx
Show how to allow a non-administrative user to add modules to a page, but also restrict the user to certain modules.

But is it possible to give different users different page creation permissions. So for example allow one user to create, edit and delete pages.  And another to be able to edit only.

Also, I'd like to be able to apply some kind of workflow, for example:

User1: Creates a page, adds content, submits the page for review, the page or change to the page is not yet public
User2: Has user1's permissions but can also approve the page to make it or the changes public.

I did find this module: http://oliverhine.com/DotNetNuke/Providers/CustomPermissionsProvider/VideoDemo.aspx
But I would need to check with the owner on compatibility with dnn 6.x

Just wondered what other options there are for the dnn community edition.

Steve

I have a permission

Hi Steve,

1 - Out of the box you either give Edit permission to a page or just view permission. There is nothing else in between. But Oliver's module sound like a possible alternative to your need as long as it works on DNN6.

2 - Workflow on the community edition is very limited. You can either publish it directly or have a staging area. You can find that under the HTML module settings / Workflow. There is no approval process on the CE, only on PE;

 Best regards,

Aderson

Hi Aderson,

Thankyou for your reply, yes i did some further reading and can see I really need to use the PE for workflow.

I've noticed some DNN ISPs provide the professional edition for a slightly higher fee, maybe that's the way to go instead of  purchasing the $2998.00 p.a. professional license.

Couldn't see too many third party products either apart from the one mentioned. But I don't think that helps with granular permissioning.

Hi Steve,

In terms of more permission options, keep in mind that DNN PE has more granular permissions.

BTW, I have a some clients who purchase DNN PE via PowerDNN. I'm not stating it is the best way to go, but it seems a common practice.

Best regards,

Aderson

Hi Aderson,

Yes powerdnn.com was the one I found, wasn't sure if it was ok to mention by name.
