I have just tried accessing the 'page management' option whilst logged in as host on a 7.3.4 site.
But no page information is displayed.
Am i doing something wrong?

Maybe you have deleted the page management module from that page.
At the end of the day, all these admin features are just modules.

The page management option is still there. I can see the tree structure of pages on the left, but when you select a page nothing appears.

I got what you mean. I suggest you to try using fiddler - to "sniff" what might be happening behind the scenes with the ajax calls that are happening. I use that tactic quite a lot.
