Hi,

I'm working on setting up a DNN 7 site and I am trying to customize the styles in the HTML editor. I found this documentation:

http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/telerik-customization

but when I go to the Providers folder there is no folder for HTMLEditorProviders. Is that a folder I need to create or has it been moved in the DNN 7 version? I need some help trying to sort this out.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Aderson,

I already tried what you show in the videos, but it didn't do anything. I created an editor.css file at the root of the folder for my portal and added a test class into it, but the class doesn't show up in the class list. I do see a list of about 40-50 styles and I'm not sure where they come from. I went into the control panel to see if the HTML Editor Manager controls might help. I found the settings for the Telerik editor and did a quick test of turning off the HTML view to see if the Telerik editor was being used. It did turn off the HTML view so I started trying to follow the instructions in the documentation link I sent you. The problem is the docs say to find the XML file that controls the class dropdown at :/Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Telerik/Config/ConfigDefault.xml . When I go to the Providers folder there is no HTMLEditorProviders folder.

I am very confused as to how to edit the css classes available in the editor. I see one set of documentation saying that the Telerik editor is the default and to follow those directions to change the style list, but my DNN 7 install doesn't have the same folders in the documentation example, and in the video it looks like all you had to do was add the styles to editor.css and then make sure the matching styles were in skin.css and it all showed up in the dropdown. I don't even know where the styles that are in my current dropdown are coming from in the first place.

If you can tell me how to do this step by step that would help, but I tried doing what was show in the video as far as adding styles to editor.css and it didn't change anything.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

A very simple example:

1 - Let's say I have a CSS class called DNNHeroHead;

2 - For it to show up on the Editor, create a file called editor.css and add the class DNNHeroHead to it;

3 - Put the file editor.css on the same folder used by your skin;

4 - Make sure you have the same class DNNHeroHead on your skin.css file too so the same style will show outside the editor;

That will do it. I have just tried it myself now.

BTW, make sure you clear your local browser's cache to see this working. This is heavily cached!

Cheers,

Aderson

Aderson,

I tried this and it didn't work. I cleared the cache and put the editor.css file with my test class in my skin folder, but the test class name doesn't show up in the class dropdown. It has a huge list of other classes in it, but my class is not there. I'm going to get the IT department to take a look, I'm hoping maybe something is misconfigured.
