Hi

I have an insteresting challenge which I'm not sure if it can be achieved

I have a website we'll call it mydomiain.com. It contains a module which unfortunately if I Export and Import the site doesn't carry across to the new platform.

I have a cunning plan to rebuild the site but provide a link to the archived site. Both will be on the same server

My plan is to give the old site a domain alias of archive.mydomain.com and build the new site on a new DNN platform

Has anyone tried this before and will I need to alter the name in IIS rather than just set up an alias in DNN

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

1 - You will have to add a new alias for the current live site to the archive alias - Make sure you don't have a redirect to main alias selected.

2 - You have to create a new IIS site for the archive domain pointing to the folder of the current site;

3 - Still on IIS you will have to change the current live site folder, to the new folder of the new DNN site;

This should do it.

Cheers,

Aderson

Hi Aderson

Brilliant

I've tested steps 1 and 2 and they work a treat

I'll test step 3 when I get to moving the main site

Thanks

Dave
