Hi

I recently went through the upper limits of my hosting companies space.

I FTPed all the files away and then searched for large file >1MB

Turns out there is a daily log in portals\_default\logs

I had 512 files, deleted them and now well inside my space

Does anyone know what creates them and can they be switched off in Admin / Host

Today's file 2013.01.23.log.resources is already 59MB!!!!

Thanks in advance

Dave

Hi Dave,

Those logs are create by log4net - this is a tool to log information on DNN.

You can turn it off completely by adjusting the "level" key from value="ERROR" to value="OFF" in the "\DotNetNuke.log4net.config" file on your site's root folder.

Cheers,

Aderson

Hi Aderson

Brilliant, works a treat. I now have a log file that is 0 bytes each day :-)

I wonder if there's a couple of videos in this on "Configuring DNN for Basic Use"

e.g. Setting the SQL database to Basic mode, stopping these Log files, every little helps :-)

Hi Dave,

I have scattered tips and tricks but not a good solid series. I shall put that on the pipeline!

Thanks,

Aderson
