DotNetNuke Modules and Skins Review | August 2, 2012 - August 9, 2012

Even though we are living through the social web, with Facebook and Twitter taking us all by storm, but there is still something powerful to be said about email. Maybe because I'm not a "millennial" but there is something special when someone trusts you with their email.

The DNN ecosystem has a few sellers who have built interesting email marketing modules, but it is hard to compete with platforms like MailChimp, who not only has an awesome user interface, but also provides a very rich feature set for email marketing needs of all kinds.

I brought all of that to your attention to justify my pick for this week. EasyDNNmailChimp by EasyDNNsolutions.com is a module which will allow you to integrate DNN with MailChimp. Anyone who subscribes to your newsletter via this module will end up automatically on your MailChimp's account. Not only that, but you can also setup the unsubscribe option to do the same.

The subscription form is template based which means you can give it the exact same look as the rest of your website. Combining DNN with MailChimp is a great way to engage with your site's audience and create long lasting loyalty. This module can be the bridge you need.

In terms of skins this week I'm really in love with the skin I have chosen. Award Orange by dnnskin.net has over 15 color options aside orange. It has all elements to make it one of the best skins I have ever seen:

  • The design is gorgeous. This is a fine example of web [whatever number].0 design. The wide horizontal stretches of either solid colors or patterns are just one hint of their modern style. I would buy this style any day!
  • The skin structure is just flawless. No tables at all. All DIV/CSS based. Just a fine example of how skin creators should do their work;
  • The responsiveness on small mobile screens is just great. The site looks awesome on small screens. You just cannot get better than that;
  • The container set is another touch of art. So well-crafted from the design to the HTML structure;
  • There is a nice set of button styles that can be used as well and you can find on their demo under the Typography Menu.

I swear I'm not getting paid to review this skin. I just have to recognize an outstanding job when I see one and if it comes across as a little too much, so be it.
