Hi Richard,

Thank you for your reply.

I captured the url from the jQuery that makes the Ajax call.

I've then tried the equivalent url on other sites and which give back a response.

So I'm pretty convinced it's the correct one.

But thank you once again.

Steve

Steven,

It is possible the .NET level is the issue.  I know they upgraded to a WebAPI 2.0 dependency for the services framework in version 8 which requires .NET 4.5.2.

Hi Scott,

Rechecking the log files a few hours later I can see that the above mentioned errors have reappeared, sample below.

Looking at the web.config file I can see that a lot of records have been removed by the ISP.

For example, the reference to the image handler was changed from:
      <add name="DnnImageHandler" path="DnnImageHandler.ashx" verb="*" type="DotNetNuke.Services.GeneratedImage.DnnImageHandler, DotNetNuke" preCondition="integratedMode" />
To:
      <add name="UserProfilePicHandler" path="ProfilePic.ashx" verb="*" type="DotNetNuke.Services.UserProfile.UserProfilePicHandler, DotNetNuke" preCondition="integratedMode" />

Also
<compilation debug="false" strict="false" targetFramework="4.5">
Changed to:
<compilation debug="false" strict="false" targetFramework="4.0">

The following lines were added, which happen to correspond to the errors below:
        <add name="DNNDropDownNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.DNNDropDownNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.DNNDropDownNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\DNNDropDownNavigationProvider\" />
        <add name="ASP2MenuNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.ASP2MenuNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.ASP2MenuNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\ASP2MenuNavigationProvider\" />
        <add name="DNNTreeNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.DNNTreeNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.DNNTreeNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\DNNTreeNavigationProvider\" />
        <add name="SolpartMenuNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.SolpartMenuNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.SolpartMenuNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\SolpartMenuNavigationProvider\" />
        <add name="DDRMenuNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Web.DDRMenu.DDRMenuNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.Web.DDRMenu" />
        <add name="DNNMenuNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.DNNMenuNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.DNNMenuNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\DNNMenuNavigationProvider\" />

This all looks a bit suspect to me, but to be honest I know know which settings are required and which aren't.

I'd better talk to the hosting company again.

Best Regards,

Steve

Hi Scott,

I'm sorry I didn't see your last reply before posting one after it.

Yes, it could be a .Net Framework issue.

I've just taken the web.config file from another of my sites on the same host. I edited it just to change sql server login and it works fine. I haven't tested this thoroughly yet but I'm cautiously optimistic. I will talk to the host and see what they say.

It's taken me quite a few hours to find an issue which seems to be caused by a badly edited web.config file. It wasn't me who made all the changes but the hosting company I hasten to add.

Thank you so much for your questions. I didn't know to look for an error log file, I assumed everything would appear in the event log. Your question prompted me to check the web.config file.

All the best,

Steve
