I am trying to figure out how to work with the Nav Menu. I have watched the page admin video on how to create pages and have them appear and disappear in the menu and this was helpful but I need to know about some of the more advanced options that I can set on the control itself.

My site needs to have one menu on the home page and different menus as you work into the subsections of the site that represent brands/imprints of the company.  I would like to be able to control where the menu starts in the hierarchy and how many levels it shows so I can display different menus as the customer accesses the different brands.  I think this is possible using some of the options on the control such as "Level" but in all of my googling I haven't been able to find any documentation that describes the default options and how to use them.

Can anyone explain the important options or point me to documentation or examples that show how to use the different menu options?

 Thanks

Hi Andy,

There is a great 3 part article written by Armand Datema that covers in great details all the technical aspects to control the DDR menu. Have a look:

Cheers,

This tool over at 10 Pound Gorilla is helpful as it lists the default values available for each of the options in the control, http://www.10poundgorilla.com/DotNetN....  I think this was linked from one of the video tutorials.  What is still missing is a good explanation on what each option does and how they are used.

So I am gathering that the suggestion is to use DDR Menu instead of the standard DNN Menu.  It looks like it's a better option and has a lot more documentation with it.

You are correct.

Since the introduction of DNN 6, DNN itself started to use DDR on their own default skins and they started shipping DNN with DDR included.
