Hi Aderson,

I use a plugin on the Chrome browser called 'Cache Killer', works great as far as I can tell.
What happens if you run the browser incognito?

I think changing the home page each day is a better solution. i.e. no redirect.
But I just didn't want to do that because I'm using the path in the url to determine previous/next navigation (did I say that already?), but it seems to work, so I will fix the navigation tomorrow.

Hi Aderson,

I think I solved the general redirect issue by making the latest page the home page. That certainly worked today.

But now I have a strange issue with the previous day's page which gives the following error in chrome and firefox on a desktop:

This page isn’t working

[websitename].com redirected you too many times.

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

I've tried clearing cookies as it suggests, but that didn't make any difference.

I did redirect to that page yesterday, but have since switched the redirect off.

Now I'm stuck for what to do. It seems something is happening server-side, because it happens on several devices and on different browsers.

 Any ideas?

Best Regards,

Steve

A couple of other observations:

If I make the page the home page, it displays OK, albeit with a different URL of course.

It's the only page on the site of about 45 pages to have this issue.

Hi Aderson,

Finally, I've realised the cause of the 'redirect' message and have a solution but not a very good one.

When I create each page, via the page copy facility, it generates the url with hyphens and captital letters i.e.  www.[mysite].com/Path-1/Path-2/Path-3
Where Path-1 etc. is taken from the page names.

As I wanting a clean url, I change the url in the page settings to remove the hyphens and captital letters. A few times i had to reedit the url and it is the second edit that causes the browser to issue the page redirect error message.

Is this a bug in DNN 8?

The best 'solution' I have is to delete the page, clear it from recycle bin and start again. This time making just one edit to the url in the settings.

I tried setting the URL when creating the page, but found that that was just overwritten which is a bit annoying.

When creating new pages, is there any way to prevent DNN from generating a URL with hyphens and instead specify my own?

Best Regards,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Good work around for you in particular with the cache filler plugin, but regular users won't have that unfortunately.

Incognito I would think it doesn't cache.

I think not using redirect will be best.
