Hi Chris,

I cannot speak to the future of DNN but I know the community is strong and you can see updates done in the last few days - https://github.com/dnnsoftware/Dnn.Platform.

You can also see the conference happening on February: https://www.dnnsummit.org/

As far as I know, DNN is strong and healthy.

The DNNStore is a different story. The store is controlled by DNN Corp, which I haven't heard about in a few years.

I don't think it affects DNN as this was Apache related and DNN runs on IIS.

Access App_Data folder from DNN

Hi Chris,

By using the standard features of DNN, you can only access files under the /Portals folder.

To access other folders you would have to create your own module for that.

I couldn't find any material to share with you. You may have to go through some trial and error on your side to figure it out.

From my personal experience: I did a project a few years ago on DNN9 that was multilingual. The native implementation was not very stable and the results were not that good. You may want to consider different portals for different langauges. My 2 cents.

Hi Chris,

If you build them with the navigation you won't be able to, I'm quite sure.

However if you build it inside the content, you could try to configure a "secure" folder in the file manager and link to it.

I don't think this will suit your need but that is all I can offer :(

1 - The strategy to use the same DNN install with multiple portals is a great option as compared to creating multiple DNN instances.

2 - In terms of skins, DNNGo als has good options.

I didn't test it very thoroughly as it was my live site.

I will try it on the installation on my local machine and try a few refreshes to see if it corrects itself.

I wish I knew how to see what's going on.

The errors I got indicated that js files from my app were missing.

Module sharing between portals

Hi Chris,

I had a look at the DNN Store and unfortunately I couldn't find any replacement for this module. I had some contact with TanLD in the past but that was many years ago and I haven't seen anything from them (him) for many years now.

I haven't found anything useful in the DNN forum either. Only very old posts talking about potentially customizing the HTML module. Nothing too useful.

FYI, DNN 9.2 removed over 500 deprecated APIs. That is most likely why this module stopped working for you. If you really need this functionality, you may want to consider trying to upgrade to DNN 9.1.1 which is the last version where the APIs have not been removed yet. The module may still work on that version.

Just a thought.
